Schalk is the co-founder and co-owner of Pieterse Sellner Erasmus TRM Tax Attorneys. As Managing Director, he guides a team of tax attorneys and professionals, and is especially equipped to deal with tax law disputes that are nuanced with administrative law and constitutional law issues.
He is a practising Tax Attorney, and his speciality is tax controversy and tax court/ high court litigation. Schalk is co-authoring a book on the Tax Administration Act with international tax expert, Dr. Daniel Erasmus. Schalk lectures in tax law at IITF and is also completing his Doctorate in Tax and Constitutional Law at Nelson Mandela University. He loves golf, running, spending time with friends and reading. He adores his wife Landi and daughters Anabelle and Amika.

Prof. Dr. Daniel N. Erasmus is renowned and respected as an international expert in tax law. His 35 years of experience includes all aspects of income tax planning, Revenue Service administrative proceedings and tax litigation. He appears as lead Counsel and advocate in the USA and various African countries, representing large multi-national corporations in their tax disputes. As an international tax and transfer pricing adjunct professor, and author of numerous textbooks on tax risk management, his vast experience encompasses complex domestic and international issues with a particular emphasis on procedural defects, domestic tax issues, and international tax; transfer pricing issues for multinational corporations and various international structures; and trusts in various jurisdictions that include the USA, South Africa and other African countries.
Eddie Sellner

Eddie bolsters the strength of our team by applying his 23 years of experience in the tax industry. He rose through the ranks of the Collections Department at SARS, gaining valuable insights that provide practical solutions for our clients at Pieterse Sellner Erasmus TRM Tax Attorneys. Eddie is a registered Tax Practitioner and is particularly skilled in the nuances of tax debt negotiation, which includes payment arrangements, compromise offers, penalty waivers and remittance applications, suspension of payment and the acquisition of tax clearance certificates. He is also well versed in tax disputes, Tax Board and Tax Court matters. Eddie also currently lectures in tax law at IITF.
Wynand Neveling

Directly after completing his articles in 2012, Wynand wasted no time in joining Schalk Pieterse as an associate. Having practised in general litigation, commercial, evictions and labour law, Wynand found himself spending most of his time on administrative law. In 2017, when he was appointed as a Director, his focus shifted to finances and management. Wynand subsequently made the move with Schalk to Pieterse Sellner Erasmus TRM Tax Attorneys, where in addition to his management roles, he recently became involved in the marketing and corporate identity of the firm. His area of law finds focus on liquidations and administrative law.
Jean-Roux van Huyssteen

Jean-Roux completed both his BCom Law degree, majoring in financial accounting, and his LLB (Cum Laude) at Nelson Mandela University. During his studies, he obtained Dean`s List in 2017 and 2018, as well as, graduating top of his class in Law of Taxation, Human Rights Law, and Legal Practice.
His role is to assist taxpayers within the very complicated realm of tax legislation. In addition to constitutional and administrative law, intertwined with tax law, he further focuses on Tax Disputes (litigious and non-litigious); Tax advisory opinions; and SARS debt negotiations, tax compliance statuses, and voluntary disclosures. Jean-Roux prides himself in the evolution of self-improvement, thus, he is currently completing his Master’s in Tax Law at Stellenbosch University.

Kerry has accumulated extensive experience in the field since completing her articles at one of the country's oldest law firms. By servicing a diverse client base, she has developed a range of skills in a variety of areas relating to taxation. Kerry is a tax risk review team leader and has been involved in complex tax risk review processes over recent years. Her training and experience have seen her devise innovative solutions for multinational corporations and their complex tax review problems.
Kerry has been involved in complex tax risk review processes and tax litigation for more than 15 years. Her specialization is in tax controversy and navigating cases from the audit stage all the way through internal dispute resolution mechanisms to the various High courts, including the Supreme Court of Appeal, where she has been instrumental in obtaining precedent-setting judgements that have helped shape constitutional and administrative law principles within the tax arena. Her training and experience has seen her devise innovative solutions for multinational corporations and their complex tax review problems. In addition to assisting clients with their legal tax matters, Kerry has lectured for a number of tax courses and has presented at numerous industry seminars.

Mark Korten, is a qualified South African attorney with 25 years of commercial and tax law experience, focusing specifically on the jurisdictions of South Africa, Mauritius and certain sub-Saharan African countries, servicing clients predominantly conducting business in Africa.
He has extensive experience in the consideration, negotiation, structuring and drafting of various commercial transactions including mergers, acquisitions, corporate restructuring, service agreements, leases, shareholders agreements, the establishment of various legal vehicles such as companies in numerous jurisdictions, local and offshore trusts, as well as hybrid partnership vehicles.
Mark's specialisation in tax law relates to local and international estate planning, the international tax consequences of and South African exchange control issues relating to cross border transactions and international group structures, as well as tax experience relating to all types of transactions involving tax law in South Africa, including income tax, value added tax, capital gains tax, dividend tax, withholding taxes and the use of international double taxation treaties in tax planning.
